Wedding Vows

I, (Bride), take thee, (Groom), to be my wedded Husband; to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health; to love, cherish, and to OBEY, till death us do part, according to God's holy ordinance.

Did the OBEY part disappear modern day vows because they found it didn't work anyway?
